Posted to: Health News Swine Flu

The Virginia Department of Health has confirmed a fourth death related to swine flu in Hampton Roads: a woman from the Western Tidewater Health District - which includes Suffolk, Isle of Wight County, Southampton County and Franklin.

Larry Hill, public spokesman for the regional VDH, said the case was only recently confirmed and could not disclose when the woman died.

There have been three other confirmed swine flu, or pandemic H1N1 flu, deaths in this region: a 34-year-old Chesapeake woman in June, an Isle of Wight County teenage girl in September, and a 27-year-old Chesapeake woman in October. There have been 24 confirmed H1N1-flu-related deaths in Virginia.
