U.S. Rep. Glenn Nye announced Saturday that he will vote no on the House health care reform bill.
He cited costs to small businesses and cuts to hospitals as primary reasons the bill will not get his support. Though he says the latest version of the bill does achieve many health care reform goals, he believes it will not reduce the cost of health care for families, taxpayers and small businesses.
A provision in the bill that Nye believes could lead to nearly $20 million in cuts for the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters was also grounds for his opposition.
Nye joins about 20 House Democrats who publically announced their intentions to vote against the bill.
President Barack Obama summoned Democrats to "answer the call of history" Saturday as the House pushed toward a vote on the bill, holding out the promise of coverage for tens of millions who lack it.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Time to get real representatives
This guy serves the Insurance companies not the voters. Time to purge such people and elect those who work for voters. Look at the polls on the public option.
No Vote For Nye
I agree, Nye does not get my vote again. I am fortunate have good insurance but I know many that do not--and not of their own choice. Nye's "No" vote tells me he is just pandering to the response of his constituents in the Hampton Roads. This is a populace who probably have the best insurance per capita in the country: military, civil service, retired military, retired civil service. Unfortunately it's a matter of "...we have ours, don't change anything and I don't care if you don't have or can't get insurance." Sad. But I guess Nye wants to be re-elected so badly that he'll do (or not do) anything even if thousands of his fellow Americans die each year from lack of basic health insurance.
Duh!
Well of course he is pandering to his constituents in Tidewater. That is who he represents. Give me a break!
"thousands" of Americans
Unemployment exceeds 10%. Clearly, there's a surplus of Americans, and we need millions, not thousands, a year to die to bring the population back down to a sustainable level.
From the looks of it Her
From the looks of it Her Majesty Nancy Pelosi's healthcare bill will be dead on arrival in the Senate anyway.
Vote for Rigell
I applaud Glenn Nye's vote to stem the tide of socialism; however, I will be voting for Scott Rigell in the next election. Nye is still too liberal for my taste.
delayed 8 hours........I know you are busy, but

I've been very concerned about other votes from Nye, and this one was the "deal breaker". I voted for Nye, and have tried to support him, but this vote of "NO" is the vote he will see from me in the future. I WILL NOT support Glenn Nye in the future, and I've called and written and told him why.
GOP, NYE & History
If Nye thinks the GOP will not target him because of his voting record, he is way off the mark. No matter what he does, the GOP is going to invest heavily and target him for replacement. While I've read his reasons for voting no, I am not pleased to see him vote against this bill. He has put himself first over the citizens of the 2nd and missed the chance to make and be apart of history.
Glenn: If you stand for nothing, then you are not worthy of representing us in Congress. Last night you put your re-election ahead of uninsured Americans, you missed the boat. Good luck in 2010...
Thanks
Great job Mr Nye you have just secured several votes for you next election term. Look forward to working with you again soon.

Good Bye NYE.
