HRT will resume normal bus service Saturday

Hampton Roads Transit will resume normal bus service Saturday, said spokesman Tom Holden. The Cedar Grove bus transfer center near Monticello Avenue and Princess Anne Road in Norfolk, which was moved due to flooding, will reopen Saturday as well.

HRT on Friday morning resumed regular service on the Southside and Peninsula, a spokesman said.

On the Southside, nine bus routes were resuming immediately, said Tom Holden, HRT spokesman. They are: 1, 3, 4, 8, 11, 13, 23 and 310.

Agency officials intially had halted service to downtown Norfolk because of road conditions, but they have improved enough for buses to proceed, Holden said.

Buses were to run on a full schedule on the Peninsula.

Routes differ in the length of time they run, so there is no set time for service to end Friday night, Holden said. Weather and road conditions also could prompt a change in schedule.

"They will run as long as conditions allow them to run," Holden said.
