The days are cooler and the nights longer, but Jack Johnson’s new live release, “En Concert,” just blew in like a warm summer breeze.
In 2008, Johnson brought his T-shirt-clad surfer chic to the international masses with his “Sleep Through the Static” world tour. “En Concert” is a dual release: a CD of tour highlights and a DVD of concert footage.
If Johnson’s music reminds you of backyard barbecues, the guys in the band are definitely going to bring a laid-back, entertaining vibe to the party.
Guest appearances on the DVD include a Special Sauce-less G. Love, British singer-songwriter Neil Halstead and Ben Harper. Eddie Vedder makes an appearance on “Constellations” only on the CD, which appears to have more stateside highlights than the Europe-centric DVD.
With Christmas right around the corner, “En Concert” is one to add to your wish list – if you can wait that long. Plus, proceeds from both the tour and this release fund two foundations that support environmental, art and music education charities.
