Paula Deen hit by charity ham; Hating on Lambert
Updated: 2:58 p.m. Nov. 24
-- Revenge of the holiday ham: Celebrity chef Paula Deen got an unexpected serving of ham - across her face. The Food Network star was helping unload 25,000 pounds of donated meat for an Atlanta food bank on Monday when someone threw one of the hams like a football and accidentally smacked her. Later, she tweeted: "I haven't met the ham that could stop me yet!" [AP]
-- Lambert gets complaints: Complaints - 1,500 of them - poured in Monday about Adam Lambert's sexually charged performance at the American Music Awards, including criticism of his kiss with a male keyboard player that was left out of rehearsals for the show. Whoops! ABC did not expect one of Lambert's dancers to stick his face in the singer's crotch during the S&M-themed performance of "For Your Entertainment," a moment that was cut out when the awards show was broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on the West Coast on Sunday. Is he worried? He shouldn't be. These kind of sensations usually equal big sales. [AP]
-- Mya closing in on 'Dancing' win: Mya is poised to take the "Dancing With the Stars" title after finishing three points away from perfect during the final night of competition Monday. The singer scored 87 out of 90 points for her three dances with professional partner Dmitry Chaplin. The pair was perfect on their paso doble and bested their fellow finalists with a perfect score during the megamix challenge, which saw them dancing side-by-side with Donny Osmond and Kelly Osbourne. Mya's "Hairspray"-themed freestyle dance didn't dazzle the judges, who gave it 27 out of 30 points. Osmond finished in second place with 85 out of 90 points. [AP]
-- Palin nearing a million sold: Sarah Palin appears well on her way to becoming a million-selling author. "Going Rogue" sold 700,000 copies - a number that includes pre-orders - in its first week of release, according to a publishing official close to the former Alaska governor. The official was not authorized to release the sales figure and asked not to be identified. Palin's memoir came out Nov. 17 with a first printing of 1.5 million copies. On Friday, publisher HarperCollins announced that the printing would be increased to 2.5 million. [AP]
-- Offensive Obama pic: Google has purchased online ads in an effort to explain to users why an offensive image of Michelle Obama is appearing, and is ranked so highly, in its Google Image search results. Google once pulled the photo using its "no serving malware" rule. Now the image is on another site that does not break the rules. This wouldn't be a problem in China, but that country has other issues. [HuffPo]
-- Special for Boyle: TV Guide Network says it will air a special program starring singing sensation Susan Boyle next month. The one-hour documentary, "I Dreamed a Dream: The Susan Boyle Story," will feature performances by Boyle, plus interviews with her as well as friends and celebrities including Simon Cowell, a producer of the special. -- Tila sex tape: Anyone surprised? Just days after Tila Tiquila posted live video herself in a naked rant, a sex-tape of her appeared on another site. She's threatening a lawsuit. Why? [TMZ]
-- Steamy Harpo series: So Oprah quits Oprah, but she's not quitting sensational storylines. The New York post reports that the daytime queen will produce an HBO series about a sexually curious LA housewife. The same person who wrote the screenplay for "Secretary," a movie about an S&M relationship between a lawyer and his secretary, is writing the yet-to-be-named show. [NY Post]
-- Bored with Paramore: You may be head over heels for Paramore's "Brick by Boring Brick" video. (I do like her blond hair.) I'm wondering if the band will break out with a sound that is any different from its last song. [Paramore.net]
-- How "Twilight" works: Ambiguous yet insecure female character + Greek-god type who listens to her every word = The "Twilight" saga. Don't believe me. Go check out The Oatmeal for an illustrated explanation. And, don't blame me if you're offended. You have now officially been warned. [The Oatmeal]
-- Oh Victoria: The annual Victoria's Secret runway show doesn't air till December, but this year's Angels gave us a sneak peek of their sexy looks. Models Miranda Kerr and Doutzen Kroes admit they still get nervous before walking the catwalk in wings. [AP]
-- ShowBiz Minute: Chief guilty of 3 counts in Parker-Broderick case; Lambert's performance draws over 1,500 complaints; Overnight star Susan Boyle focus of TV special. [AP]
