N.C. congressman too rushed to find airport parking

Posted to: News North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C.

A North Carolina congressman dashing to catch a plane dumped his SUV at the end of a row of properly parked cars at Charlotte's airport.

The Gaston Gazette reports Wednesday that Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry parked his Ford Explorer straddling a curb in a parking lot at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport on Sunday.

The front tires were on the curb. The back tires were in the driving area of the parking lot, one resting atop a yellow speed bump.

McHenry spokesman Brock McCleary said the congressman was running late and couldn't find a parking spot. He says McHenry made a mistake by not parking properly, and the car has been moved.

McHenry is serving his third term in the U.S. House.

I don't think it was

I don't think it was arrogance. He had to know it would be towed. He's probably got enough money he figured he'd figure it out later. It's us little folks that can't do that because we can't afford it!

You've GOT to be kidding

The paper is actually going to start reporting parking violations now?

sadly

the VA Pilot is getting more and more away from news from ne north carolina and going statewide, and this story, please.......... this is nuts. you have all kind of craziness in chowan county, including a manager getting a 10% raise while he lowers pay of others due to tough economic conditions (guess he is exclused from those) and no coverage.

sad state of reporting to cover this story

sorry, excluded

excluded, sorry for typo

Say it isn't so!

Say it isn't so!

Is this actually newsworthy?

Is this actually newsworthy? I mean it's the airport where people leave their cars parked at the curb more often than you can imagine. I don't think he was much more special than whoever called the newspapers with this story. I am willing to bet that he got towed just like everyone else and the tow company probably flew the flag on this after looking at his registration. How about keeping your eye on the crooks taking backdoor brides on Capitol Hill, cancelling hearings for Countrywide Mortgage, or Rangel's dozen ethics inquiries. If there has ever been a clan of politicians punch-drunk with power, it is this current Democrat Congress salivating to shove a $1.2 trillion health care bill to cover 50 million uninsured (that's $24 million a person and far worth more coverage) down our throats! Is it a wonder that the news media is suffering and wanting a bailout?

Arrogance

This is the type of arrogance that some public officials unfortunately assume. Guess what the commercials for the next election will look like.

Another Bad example of behavior

Another example of how far removed our elected officials are from the average resident. The representatives of the people should be setting the example for conduct. The rules and laws apply to everyone. Somehow I doubt his car was towed and impounded like every other citizen’s would be.

This is news?

Good grief. Next he'll have 11 items in a 10-item only grocery line. Oooooooo!

that

cowpower, you get my vote for most clever blog! good one!
