April Burns selected the style, size lot, colors and more for the home of her dreams while serving the country overseas.

"I did everything online," said Burns, an active duty Navy member who was in Kuwait from April to December 2008. "I didn't see it in person."

In between her duties in customs, she searched the Internet for a place to plant her roots.

"I decided it was time for me to get a home, so I researched online," said Burns, who previously rented at a Virginia Beach apartment complex.

As a first-time homebuyer, Burns had an idea of what she wanted and found it at Forest Glen Terrace in Suffolk.

She was sold on the style of the four-bedroom, 2-1/2-bath home with a sun room and half-acre lot, its cost and location in the new section of an established neighborhood.

The highlight came when Burns returned home from her eight-month tour and moved into the home.

Built by Hearndon Construction and developed by Vico Construction, Forest Glen Terrace's second phase will feature 23 single-family homes when complete.

Three floor plans are available, with base prices ranging from $254,900 to $269,900.

The community's location was another plus to Burns.

"The entrance is directly off Holland Road (Route 58), so you have easy and time-saving access to the interstate and highways," said Louise Perkins, site manager with Rose & Womble Realty.

Said Burns: "I always wanted a house built from the ground up. I guess I was just destined to live there."
