Brian and Sarah Kubicki were drawn to Chesapeake Beach and felt fortunate to find a new community being built there.

The couple and their two children relocated from New Jersey to Hampton Roads about 18 months ago for Brian's work.

"We spent months and a lot of hours looking for the ideal place to live," said Brian Kubicki, 35. "We looked at all different areas of Virginia Beach.

They found "home" after wife Sarah saw the model at Mira Bella at Chic's Beach.

"This was our chance to build our dream house from scratch, and we love the area," he said. "It's in close proximity to the Bay, the school system is great and so is the quality of homes. "

The community, on the west side of Pleasure House Road just three blocks from the water in Virginia Beach's Chesapeake Beach community, was started in 2006.

Classic Design Builders developed and built Mira Bella at Chic's Beach. One of the neighborhood's homes won Tidewater Builders Association honors for best kitchen design for 2008.

When completed, Mira Bella at Chic's Beach will feature 18 single-family custom homes with a beach look and feel. The models include Lake View, Bay Wind, Sea Mist, Beach Pebbles and Bay Breeze. Five lots remain on which to build.

"We're a diamond in the rough," said Les Reaves, site manager for William E. Wood & Associates. "Nobody knows we're there. It's hidden back next to Lake Bradford. There is no traffic to speak of and white herons galore."

Reaves said most residents buying in Mira Bella already live in Chesapeake Beach and want to upgrade without leaving the community.

"We feel lucky," Brian Kubicki said. "The folks in the area all seem to be locals. We feel fortunate we found such a great area to live."
