Norfolk companies honored for work at Marine site

Posted to: Business

Two Norfolk firms were recognized last week for the design and construction of the Marine Corps' first LEED-certified building, according to a news release.

The 10,500-square-foot training center and maintenance facility at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina was completed a year ago.

Virtexco Corp. constructed the building that was designed by RRMM Architects.

The facility was recently certified LEED by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED is a green building standard that sets guidelines on everything from construction materials to window tinting.
