Good day to stay home
Staying home today.
Norfolk Public Schools Are Closed
According to the link, Norfolk school just changed from 2 hour delay to being closed (twelve month employees report 2 hours late). A wise decision. We have to keep our kids safe.
that wvec link?
Did anyone else notice, when you go to the listings, it says "Posted October 15 2009" - Maybe this is not fresh information?
This is not the only site,
It goes to show lack of attention to detail, though obvious it is not Oct 15. That is the problem with on line services, there is a noticable lack of proofing the products, headlines and story itself.
Have No Fear!
Have no fear! Your friendly neighborhood police, fire, and EMS departments never close! They are ready to respond on a moment's notice if you drive your Kia through 5 feet of water, lol. God bless our everyday heros!
Just heard the announcement
Just heard the announcement that Virginia Beach Schools are closed Thursday.
VDOT
VDOT learned something from Isabel. The Midtown tunnel is closed. Get ready for a 2+ hour commute.
such whining!
Not suprised that so many don't want to go to work, probably want to collect their pay while at Starbucks or McDonalds. Bet they can get there with no problem and if you pass a grocery or drug store buy yourselves some tissue to dry your tears. May God bless our Country, it needs it NOW more than ever.
How about people just learn to be self reliant
How about people just learn to be self-reliant instead of relying on Superstitious intervention from a man in the Sky! It is the mentality that fate or god is determining what is happening to them that keeps people from solving their own problems!
A 10% chance of snow and all schools shut down
In the middle of the worst storm we've seen in many years and everything stays open. This makes no sense.
well
who said life is fair? Everything is not staying open in case you're not aware yet.
Trash Collection
Norfolk postponed trash collection until Saturday but only delayed school for 2 hours? Who makes these decisions?
Closings
Thanks to those of you who have added closings. Please note the link at the left top of the story to a list on WVEC's site with more closings. Be safe today. Elizabeth
Base Closure?
Hello! Hampton Blvd. has already flooded. Does the government care about employees having to drive in these conditions - forecasters are comparing this to Isabel. Norfolk Public Schools are on a 2 hour delay but should be closed. It takes about 1/2 inch of rain to flood Norfolk and we surpassed that yesterday. Great job Norfolk!
Va Beach Schools
The governor declared at state of emergency last night. As of 4am, VB schools had not announced anything. On President Obama's coronation day, they closed schools because it 'might' snow. Somebody's priorities are really jacked up!
I Just Dont Get It!!
I live in Portsmouth and my husband works for the city in Downtown. It is flooded but yet we wont know until like 5 a.m. whether Portsmouth is closing the schools. Its really common sense and if Chesapeake is closed then Portsmouth should be too. We have many, many streets that flood in this city.
Just got a call saying
Just got a call saying Chesapeake Public Schools will be closed tomorrow....
Did Norfolk even look at the NOAA chart?
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/mdl/etsurge/index.htm?coast=me&stn=vahamp&type=both
The highest tide today won't even touch the lowest tide tomorrow.
CLOSE the schools NORFOLK!
My veedub Beetle is crying!
