LYNCHBURG
An airplane towing an anti-abortion banner is spending two days flying over Lynchburg.
The banner depicts the hand of a human fetus lying on top of a dime. The plane flew over the city for about three hours Monday.
Mike Schrimsher of the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform says the group plans to send the plane up again today.
The privately funded nonprofit group uses graphic images of aborted fetuses to protest the practice of abortion across the country.
Schrimsher says the organization chose Lynchburg for the flights after an anti-abortion conference was held at Liberty University last week. Liberty University spokesman Johnnie Moore says the school has no affiliation with the banner.

Root cause of abortion
What the christian right doesnt want you to dig up on your own (look at CDC and Jones institute data) is that abortions dropped the most during the clinton years and spiked up in 2003 during the Bush years. Abortion rates don't correlate to who is president, they correlate to the state of the economy and prosperity. Abortion for any woman, even feminists, is a hard and usually last resort decision mostly based on economic choices. Perhaps the republicans should support social programs for the needy if they want to stop abortions and perhaps be willing to adopt the unborn non-white children instead of flying planes and wasting gas. It amazes me how self righeous the far right is in preaching but they don't want to put down any real support for those in need, those who are most likely to get an abortion. Getting the economy in order and taxing the rich to provide social programs for single mothers and poor children will reduce abortion far more than showing graphic images and actng self righeous in an airplane.
