Dorin Spivey is bringing home a belt.

The veteran lightweight from Portsmouth stopped Meacher Major in the fourth round Friday night in Buffalo, N.Y., to capture the North American Boxing Association lightweight title.

Spivey (36-6, 29 KOs) dropped Major (16-4-1), who was rated No. 14 in the World Boxing Association ratings, twice in the second round. The referee stopped the bout 52 seconds into the fourth.

"I felt a little tight at first, but I was getting stronger round by round," Spivey said. "I felt strong, back at lightweight."

Spivey, 36, had not fought at lightweight in almost three years, taking his last two bouts at welterweight.
