Virginia officials say that have suspended the search for a Canadian sailor who never made it to Bermuda.

Sixty-seven-year old Hubert Marcoux departed Halifax, Nova Scotia, aboard his 45-foot sailboat on Nov. 9 with a plan to arrive in Bermuda by Nov. 16.

The Rescue Coordination Center Norfolk was coordinating the search, which was suspended Sunday night.

Air searches by the U.S. and Canadian coast guards were conducted between Halifax and Bermuda.

The coordination center says about 18 separate aircraft searches covered approximately 152,000-square-nautical miles.
