CHESAPEAKE

The driver of a tractor trailer that overturned at the Greenbrier Parkway exit off Interstate 64 was charged with failure to maintain a lane.

Shortly before 3 p.m., Aaron Redd, 29, of Winston-Salem, N.C., was exiting I-64 east when the weight of his truck tipped it over, said Trooper D.H. McCarson. A preliminary investigation indicates Redd was driving too fast on the ramp.

The Greenbrier Parkway south exit was closed to traffic through rush hour while crews worked to extricate Redd from the truck’s cab and then clear the damaged tractor-trailer.

The exit reopened at 7:41 p.m.

Redd was taken to an area hospital and treated for injuries to his wrist, leg and back, McCarson said.
