NORTHAMPTON COUNTY

One lane of U.S. 13 has reopened several hours after a crash involving a tractor-trailer that lost part of a load of lumber, authorities said today.

About 5 a.m. the truck crashed into farm equipment that was headed north on U.S. 13, said Sgt. Michelle Cotten, Virginia State Police spokeswoman. Power lines were knocked down, and there were minor injuries, she said.

The lanes were closed so the highway could be cleared. One lane is expected to be closed while the clean-up continues, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Drivers were warned to expect delays.
