The Virginia Department of Transportation plans to test the High-Rise Bridge on Thursday morning.

The test is set for 10 a.m. so crews can inspect electrical repairs done after a power outage caused by last week’s nor’easter, a VDOT news release said.

The test was scheduled for a time that would avoid rush hours, according to the release.

Let's hope...

...that it doesn't get stuck in the open position. (laughing hysterically here) When was the last time this bridge was tested? Should draw bridges be regularly tested? How much does it cost to flip a switch?
