NORFOLK

About 20 breast cancer survivors were models in a fashion show Saturday night to raise money for Beyond Boobs!, a nonprofit group in Virginia that promotes breast health education.

“This is very healing for us ... to make everyone else aware that being diagnosed with breast cancer is not a death sentence,” said Charlene Cattoi of Virginia Beach, one of the models.

The Divas in Disguise Fashion Show at the Marriott Norfolk Waterside was sponsored by The Hague Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Center in Norfolk.

To Some Beast Cancer IS A Death Sentence

I commend these ladies bravery in their battle with this terrible disease.

I do not agree when they say that breast cancer is not a death sentence. For women who do not have health insurance, adequate income, and they fall in between the cracks of the system, cancer IS A DEATH SENTENCE. There are many women who have died because they could not afford to go to the doctor.

Cancer will continue to be a death sentence until good healthcare is available to all.
