Virginia Beach woman dies in head-on collision

VIRGINIA BEACH

An 18-year-old woman died Monday evening in a head-on collision, police said today.

Shortly before 7 p.m., Grace Suzanne McIntyre was driving a 2006 Toyota Scion west on Indian River Road when she entered a sharp curve, according to a news release. She was driving too quickly and entered the opposite lane of traffic, police said. She then overcorrected to the right and then again into oncoming traffic, striking a Honda Odyssey head-on.

McIntyre died at the scene, according to the news release. The driver and passengers in the Odyssey, a husband, wife and teenage daughter, suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment, police said.

McIntyre lived in the 2500 block of Sandusky Avenue.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
