Villanueva certified as 21st District winner

Posted to: Elections News Va. House Elections Virginia

RICHMOND, Va.

The State Board of Elections certified the results of this month's elections on Monday, including the close 21st House District race.

Virginia Beach Councilman Ron Villanueva was certified the winner with 7,673 votes, 14 more votes than his opponent, incumbent Del. Bobby Mathieson.

The margin is narrow enough that Mathieson, a Democrat, can ask for a city-paid recount within 10 days.

In a statement released by his campaign, Mathieson said a recount would be in the best interest of the voters.

Question.

I don't know, so I'm asking here. Doesn't the voting in Virginia Beach happen on those new fancy computerized machines? If so, how hard is it to do a recount? Just hit the "add" button and the totals should spit right out. It's not like were looking at the infamous "Hanging Chad" are we? Anyone know the answer?

hope the recount

goes your way Bobby! May the better man win.
