Coach's Corner: Cheryl Jennison, Maury girls swimming coach

Coaching career Jennison coached girls swimming and track at Lake Taylor for 16 years before going to Maury in 2001. The Commodores have won the district title every year since.

Playing days Jennison, a Vermont native, played softball for West Chester University (Pa.), where she earned a degree in health and physical education. She swam and played field hockey, basketball and softball in high school.

Day job Health, physical education and driver's education teacher at Maury.

Why she got into coaching "I loved competition and the challenges you face in sports that help you deal with all aspects of life."

Her coaching philosophy "Work as hard as you can on and off the field, do things correctly and you'll always be able to look back and appreciate the fun sports provided."
