Kaine says Tea Party movement is 'devouring' GOP

Democratic National Committee Chairman Timothy M. Kaine said this week that the Tea Party movement is devouring the Republican Party and is already proving corrosive in key GOP primaries.

Speaking at the 11th annual American Democracy Conference hosted by the University of Virginia's Center for Politics and by Politico at the Newseum in Washington, Kaine argued that while the headwind may be against Democrats going into 2010, divisions within the GOP will prove deadly to the Republican brand.

"The Tea Party movement is devouring the GOP," the Virginia governor said. "It is something that we expect to see going forward."

Kaine pointed to last month's special House election in New York's 23rd District - where Democrat Bill Owens ended up winning a long-held Republican seat because of divisions between supporters of Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman and GOP nominee Dede Scozzafava - as exemplifying what he anticipates will happen in future Republican primaries.

"We are already seeing some pretty corrosive primaries in the Texas governor's race, the Florida governor's race," he said.

Kaine added that there is a "corrosive and consistent fight" within what he referred to as "the tea-bag party."

"On the Republican side, we see a party that is narrowing geographically, narrowing ideologically and narrowing demographically," the DNC chairman said.

While Kaine contended that some of the already-bloody primaries on the Republican side will hurt the GOP, Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, insisted that, as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, he is looking forward to tough primary battles to ensure that the best GOP candidates emerge to challenge Democrats.

Cornyn conceded that "there has been a lot of talk about whether the party is going to be divided by the Tea Party movement."

However, he dismissed the possibility of any potential negative effect the movement could have on Republican primaries.

Count me one as gloating at BO's dismal failures.

If BO's failures mean proving once again that socialism doesn't work, I celebrate.

If BO's failures mean discrediting redistribution, I celebrate.

If BO's failures mean exposing the wasteful spending squandered on the so called Arts and other programs that should be in private domain, I celebrate.

If BO's failures expose this dismal failure of government enforced social engineering, I celebrate.

If BO's failures in gerrymandering who can receive admittance and subsidies to attend medical school based solely on their race, I celebrate.

If socialist leaning ignorant people move to countries that already have such broken systems, I celebrate.

Taxes and Government abuse and meddling,

caused the greatest moment in US history and usually the same behavior and action gains the same result.

Timmy Kane doesn't know squat

and 2012 is going to prove this out. You elitist democratic liberals keep doing what your doing and 2012 will be the change I'm looking for.

Y'all said that

in 2008 too. A year is a long time, as is 3 years.

" Clinging onto a past that was not all that glamorous...

...in reality will lead to our demise in the end." You couldn't be more right!!! It's time for the Liberals--Barack Obama and Timothy Kaine included--to give up the ways of Mao, bomb-the-Pentagon domestic terrorists like Obama's personal friend and mentor William Ayers, Fidel Castro, Stalin, The New Black Panthers, etc. Such people have almost completely devoured the Democrat Party.

and accept

the goals of domestic terrorists like Tim McVeigh, Paul Hill, Scott Roeder and Eric Rudolph? Aren't you a silly man

Hey Timmy. Got a clue for

Hey Timmy. Got a clue for you. We will soon be devouring the democratic party come November 2010.

Inside the Jefferson Memorial

Thomas Jefferson wrote centuries back about the constant change our society will go thru and hanging onto old-outdated values is like trying to wear your favorite childhood coat as an adult. If we keep eating hot dogs and hamburgers, we will continue to get obese and ultimately die as a society. We need to switch to Chicken-tikka and Kimchi, the food of the most successful immigrant groups in America. These are people who came with nothing, while holding onto their values, mastered the system and are not thriving. Our society advances not only by immigrants assimilating to our values, but us learning from them as well. Look at Google and other Silicon valley companies, more than half the engineers are from abroad. We need to change and adapt with the times, grow and evolve our we will perish. Clinging onto a past that was not all that glamorous in reality will lead to our demise in the end. Like dinasaurs after the meteor hit. To me tea-baggers are people too lazy to learn and adapt and in essence just dinosaurs. I hope they run this Cheny-Palin duet, Saturday Night live has been quite dull lately.

since you like to bring up jefferson

Perhaps you should read the Declaration of Independence some time.

The principles enshrined in the Constitution are not subject to change, which is why the document has only been amended 17 times since it was originally passed; not one of them has dramatically changed the original document's intent or values.

People who champion an elastic reading of the Constitution generally do so because of what they wish it said rather than what is actually does.

Memorized the DOI

(also from previous post Not should be now) At one time in my life I could recite the entire declaration, US Constitution preamble and the bill of rights. I know these documents well and they are the foundation of our society but they were not born out of thin air. Before these there was the Articles of the Confederation which had all the states set up like different nations and the fed had to beg for taxes, There was the Magna Carta, Plato, Socrates etc. I don't advocate change and I don't think socialized health care does either. Most of you tea-baggers are of the same lineage that supported the confederacy in the civil war. Only 1/5 of the whites in the CS owned slaves yet all the ones who stood to benefit from progress wanted to hang onto the old ways. In other words, the poor were duped by the rich into believing that progress would bring about demise of culture. At one time Hot Dogs and Hamburgers were looked at like Tikka & kimchi is today. The constitution is a guiding document, not the bible which is also a guiding document. It does allow for us to think for ourselves. If you people want a cause, tout nuclear power/hydrogen fuel technology, it will get us off oil & the wea
