Shelter pets won’t be left out during the Christmas season

Posted to: Community News Pets

Shelter pets in Chesapeake won't be left out during the Christmas season, at least that's the plan of residents at Chesapeake Place Assisted Living.

Residents of the facility will be collecting new or clean toys, treats and bedding for dogs, cats, rabbits and even gerbils.

Boxes will be available for drop off at the facility, 1508 Volvo Pkwy, according to Felicia Griffin, the activities director.

But don't delay. The deadline is Thursday, since Griffin plans to take some of the residents around to Chesapeake animal shelters to deliver the goodies, including homemade dog biscuits made by the residents themselves. They were taste-tested by members of the Southeastern Virginia Therapy Dogs who visit regularly.
