Two Virginia fishermen feared lost at sea off the New Jersey coast are being remembered by fellow commercial fishermen in Newport News.

The Alisha Maria capsized one week ago in waters off southern New Jersey, tossing William Brown Jr. and Joseph Bell into the frigid waters. The search for the men has been suspended. One fisherman survived.

Scallop boat captain James Abar described both men as hard workers, the Daily Press reported.

At Newport News' small harbor, Brown was known as "Bootsy" and had worked as a commercial fisherman for 30 years. Bell was younger and was a new father.

One local fisherman said he believed both men took the New Jersey job to earn extra money for Christmas.
