Water repairs cut off water in Suffolk, close road in Va. Beach

A water main break has shut down both lanes of traffic on Starfish Road between Shore and Cape Henry drives in Virginia Beach for emergency repairs and water service has been interrupted for 160 homes in the Wexford Downs subdivision in Suffolk.

Crews are making emergency repairs to the broken water main in Virginia Beach, a city news release said. The road closure is expected to remain in effect until 7 p.m. Motorists are being rerouted to Urchin Road.

In Suffolk, the Department of Public Utilities is working to repair the faulty valve in the 100 block of Wexford Drive and water is expected to be cut off to those homes as late as 8 p.m., a city news release said.
