11 Hampton Roads groups participating in Inaugural Parade

Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell’s office announced today that 47 groups from across the Commonwealth will be participating in his inauguration parade on Saturday.

The route has been extended this year to better accommodate families, according to McDonnell’s office. The parade will begin at the corner of East Grace Street and 8th Street continue to the Capitol Grounds and past reviewing stands. The route will continue west on Franklin Street and end at East Franklin and 6th streets.

The Hampton Roads groups participating are:

- American Legion Post 110, Filipino-American Veterans of Hampton Roads and other veterans, Virginia Beach 

- Ocean Lakes and Kellam high schools, Virginia Beach

- Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School, Virginia Beach

- Hampton University Choir and New Horizons, Hampton

- Rogers Rangers, Gloucester

- Colonial Williamsburg’s Fifes and Drums, 1st Continental Light Dragoons (Blands) and the Jamestown Honor Guard, Williamsburg

what is the purpose of this parade anyways? just wondering because it seems pretty inappropriate right now and something to try to blind us from seeing how bad things really are,right? anyone else feel this way? just wondering!
