Norfolk and Suffolk police collaborated today to arrest a 29-year-old Suffolk man and charge him with killing a teen who died Tuesday after an apparent shooting near Booker T. Washington High School.

Dominic Lorenzo Myrick of the 200 block of Pine St. was charged with murder and a firearm charge. He's accused of killing Daquan Mario Hill, 19, of Norfolk.

Police responded to a call about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Maltby Ave. and found Hill on the ground, said Master Police Officer Chris Amos, a spokesman. The victim was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what was believed to be a gunshot wound, Amos said.

Chief Bruce P. Marquis later said at a City Council meeting that the man had died and that investigators had a suspect.

It was the city's fourth homicide of the year. All have been men in their teens or 20s who have been shot, Marquis noted.

"There are a lot of young people getting killed with guns," the chief said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP ( 562-5887).

Pilot writer Lauren King contributed to this report.
