Cat dies in Virginia Beach house fire

VIRGINIA BEACH

A cat died in a house fire this afternoon at 110 56th St., said Battalion Chief Laurie Gurley, a spokeswoman for the Fire Department.

The fire was called in shortly after 4:30 p.m. and firefighters arrived on scene soon after, Gurley said. They had the blaze under control by 5:15 p.m. It was put out at 6 p.m.

No firefighters or civilians were injured, but two young people were displaced, Gurley said.

The fire is under investigation.
