A 77-foot fishing trawler that was stuck on a sandbar off the Outer Banks was towed to Wanchese, N.C.
The vessel Sheila Rene was freed Sunday evening after getting stuck Friday night on the Oregon Inlet bar, according to the Coast Guard. A crew was not able to free the boat Friday night. About 7 a.m. Saturday, three people and a dog from the Sheila Rene were hoisted from a boat by helicopter because of worsening weather conditions.
The 77-foot trawler came free, but got stuck again about 9 a.m.
During high tides, Coast Guard and Sea Tow crews attempted to free the boat, according to the Coast Guard. The fishing boat Handful capsized while helping the other crews. The 42-foot boat, which is submerged, was marked.
About 8:30 p.m. Sunday, the Sheila Rene was refloated and under tow by the Coast Guard Cutter Staten Island, the agency said. The salvage tug Cindi J. took the boat to Wanchese Monday.

After losing EVERYTHING he had and Sea Tow getting paid for the job unbelievable. He needs all the help he can get! Lost everything he had and did't get a penny in return. Sea Tow screwed two boats with one line.
The rest of the story
What is unfortunate and "The Rest Of The Story" is that another local fisherman lost his boat in trying to save The Sheila Rene. When you eat local seafood please remember our fishermen and the dangers they face every day.
Thank you!
Once again the Coast Guard risks their lives to help others. Thank you!
