Special election today for 8th Va. Senate District

Posted to: News Politics Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH

Democrat Bill Fleming and Republican Jeff McWaters face off today to fill the state Senate seat vacated by longtime legislator Ken Stolle, who was elected Virginia Beach sheriff.

The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The winner is scheduled to be sworn in Wednesday in Richmond.

McWaters, founder and former CEO of the managed health care firm Amerigroup, defeated City Councilwoman Rosemary Wilson in a Republican canvass last month. Fleming, who owns a small technology firm, entered the race in late December.

The 8th District covers eastern Virginia Beach.

You got what you wanted Jeff. Don't get bored fast being a big fish in a small pond.

Good luck in Richmond. You WILL do well for your constituents.

Senate Seat 8th District

I had the distinct pleasure of working with the Democratic candidate in the past, some may not have had that pleasure. If you have not had that pleasure I would advise you consider voting for a write in candidate for your Democratic choice. If not the easy choice is to vote Republican based on the back ground and goals of each candidate.
