Police are looking for a man who robbed the Wachovia Bank at 2821 Shore Drive this morning.

At approximately 9:22 a.m., the man entered the bank, approached a teller displaying a gun and demanded money, police said. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the robber fled.

It’s unclear whether he got into a vehicle or had one waiting nearby, police said in a news release. He ran toward some nearby apartments, said Virginia Beach police Lt. Max Hayden.

The man is described as white, 25 to 30 years old, and 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, according to the release. He weighs 170 to 180 pounds, Hayden said.

The robber was last seen wearing a “Carolina blue,” long-sleeved polo shirt, light jeans, a black ski mask, gloves and white sneakers, according to the release. He wore a black, laptop-style bag over his shoulder, police said.

The man carried a black semi-automatic handgun, Hayden said. The case remains under investigation.
