"American Idol'' NASCAR style coming to a track near you
And you thought going to a race meant you were only to see action on the track and wild tailgate parties. Silly you.
Speed Channel has announced a new talent show, "Fast Track to Fame'' will debut March 1 with Michael Waltrip as host. So what is this? The show is all about you and your unique talents. The show will present people from across NASCAR Nation including singers, dancers, musicians, comedians and a variety acts of all types and can be for individuals or groups up to 6 people --- however, according to the show's web site: "No bands, fire acts or aerial acts at this time.''
Each installment is taped at a stop along the NASCAR schedule from late February through May, thus for folks in the Southeast that means stops at Bristol, Martinsville, Richmond and Charlotte. For fans in the North Carolina-Virginia region, the nearest audition will be in Winston-Salem from noon-6 p.m. on March 13. Other auditions are planned for Birmingham, Ala., Phoenix and Dallas.
Acts are being solicited in most of the locales wehre the show is taped and beyond, then auditioned by producers. From there 8-10 acts will be selected for each show where they'll go against each other on the Speed Stage either Friday or Saturday night in front of NASCAR fans and a panel of three judges.

As far as Kyle P. saying someone shouldn't show up at Bristol, heck, no one should show up at that place. It's such a stupid race, as it is too small, too high banked, too crowded, and too fast for its size. Kyle P. was right when he said, back in the day, that they should turn it into a bass pond. Nothing good can come out of that rollerball scenario. It's a crap shoot. The best car can't win anyway, because the second place car gets a free pass to wreck whoever is in first, if they can catch him or her. Not a fan of Bristol.
