Body found along I-64 in Hampton is identified

HAMPTON

Virginia State Police have identified the body of a man found alongside Interstate 64 Thursday morning.

Manuel A. Rubio, 40, of the 2100 block of W. Mercury Blvd., was discovered on the shoulder of I-64 east near the Cunningham Drive overpass by a motorist who called for help, a news release says. Rubio was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Rubio fell from the overpass, but they have not released any other details about the death.

State police are asking anyone who may have seen someone walking on Cunningham Drive from 5:30 to 6 a.m. Thursday to call Special Agent Perry J. Freeman at (757) 424-6850.
