Former John Edwards aide Andrew Young said Friday that he has turned over a copy of his ex-boss’s sex tape to the FBI.
In court documents reviewed by the Associated Press, Young said that his attorney has sent a copy of the tape to federal investigators, but that he still has the original tape in a safe deposit box in Atlanta.
Young was held in contempt of court Thursday for refusing to hand over all copies of the tape.
"These items are to be produced and turned over to the court," North Carolina Judge Abraham Penn Jones told Young. "The court will put them under lock and key - and under seal - until the lawsuit is resolved."
The tape purportedly shows the former Democratic presidential candidate engaged in sexual activities with a women who appears to be his mistress, Rielle Hunter.
Young told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that he had been offered a “gigantic” amount of money to sell the tape, but declined opportunities to do so.
In an affidavit, Hunter said she tried to destroy the recording that she and Edwards made in 2006 by yanking the tape out of its cassette.
In Young’s recently released book “The Politician” he writes that he found the tape in a home Hunter had rented after she moved out. He says that he was able to restore the tape, and has had it in his possession ever since.

IF she really wanted it gone, it would be..
She could have thrown it in the fireplace if she wanted to destroy the tape. You don't film yourself having sex unless you expect someone, somewhere to watch it. You were there, so why would you need a replay? If it were memorable enough, you'd remember it. It's private. Keep it that way. I'm sick of hearing about this cheating scum and his mistress... Poor baby has to grow up and read about this sleazy relationship.
