Nine-game point streak ends for Ads

NORFOLK

The Norfolk Admirals saw their nine-game point streak end Saturday night with a 5-1 loss to the Hartford Wolf Pack at Scope.

The Admirals took a 1-0 lead 3:17 into the game. Justin Keller fired a wrist shot past the glove of Wolf Pack goaltender Matt Zaba for his ninth goal of the season.

Hartford tied the game just 37 seconds later when Derek Coture redirected the puck past Admirals goalie Dustin Tokarski.

The Wolf Pack took a 2-1 lead with 1:28 left in the first period when Justin Soryal redirected Andres Ambuhl's pass at top of the crease past Tokarski.

Coture added a second goal and Dane Byers scored in the second period for a 4-1 Wolf Pack lead.

Tokarski (30 saves) saw his six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1) end. Matt Zaba (33 saves) earned the win.

The Admirals continue their six-game homestand at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, who trail third-place Norfolk by only four points.

The Admirals then play a Friday-Saturday series against Lowell at Scope.
