-A sleeper recruit who played one year at Green Run after transferring from a smaller school in North Carolina.

Darryl Brown (6-0, 210, LB) First Colonial High, Virginia Beach
-Brown has good speed and a decent frame to put on weight.

Shawn Butts (6-4, 190, DE) Kellam High, Virginia Beach
-Tall, rangy recruit the Monarchs intend to redshirt and beef up.

Ronnie Cameron (6-3, 295, DT) Hofstra University
-Transferred after Hofstra, where he was a starter, discontinued football. Junior eligibility.

Dominik Davenport (6-1, 264, DT) West Virginia University
-Former all-state player at Phoebus High in Hampton who has four years of eligibility after transferring.

Aaron Evans (5-8, 170, DB) Woodside High, Newport News
-As a QB, ran for 1,000-plus yards and passed for 2,000-plus, but figures to play defense at ODU.

Prentice Gill (6-1, 188, WR) Harbor (Junior) College, Los Angeles
-A juco transfer with two years of eligibility who played with new ODU QB Dominique Blackman.

Colby Goodwyn (5-8, 190, RB) Phoebus High, Hampton
-First-team all-state running back for state championship team.

Lyshod Graves (5-7, 155, WR) Reidsville High, Reidsville, N.C.
-Standout for state championship team who returned eight punts or kickoffs for touchdowns.

Dominique Guinn-Bailey (6-4, 225, DE) Churchland High, Portsmouth
-Second-team All-Tidewater selection with above-average pass-rush skills.

Angus Harper (6-0, 203, RB) Edison High, Alexandria
-Ran for 1,325 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior; enrolled at ODU in January.

Rodney Hunter (6-1, 190, LB) Etowah High, Woodstock, Ga.
-A defensive end in high school who projects to move to linebacker for the Monarchs.

-A huge player who was slowed some as a senior by broken forearm.

-Truly dynamic athlete with above-average closing speed and a nose for the ball.

-The first Oscar Smith player to sign with the Monarchs.

-One year at QB for the Bethel Bruins sold the Monarchs on his signal-calling abilities.

-Older brother Jerod was NFL defensive rookie of the year in 2008. Senior eligibility.

-Extremely large lineman who may not be finished growing.

Paul Morant (6-0, 180, SS) Phoebus High, Hampton
-Quarterbacked Phantoms to perfect record and state title, but will play defense at ODU.

Wes Moulton (6-3, 275, OT) Ocean Lakes, Virginia Beach
-First-team All-Tidewater on defense as a junior, on offense as a senior.

Larry Pinkard (5-11, 170, WR) Ballou High, Washington, D.C.
-Breakaway speed receiver who can win jump balls and should stretch the field for the Monarchs.

Preston Smith (6-3, 240, TE) Deep Creek High, Chesapeake
-Very athletic addition who promises to be more than just a possession receiver.

Antonio Vaughan (5-8, 150, WR) Hertford County High, Hertford, N.C.
-A quick possession-type receiver who should fit well in ODU’s spread offense.
