A bald eaglet has hatched in the nest at Norfolk Botanical Garden.

Amy Dagnall, public relations manager, said that around 1:10 p.m. Thursday, people noticed the egg was hatched and open.

The egg was laid Jan. 31, and the bird is on target for the typical 35- to 39-day incubation period, Dagnall said. Two other eggs, laid Feb. 3 and Feb. 6, remain in the nest, she said.

You can find webcam views of the nest at www.wvec.com and www.norfolkbotanicalgarden.org.

There is a great picture of the baby eaglet on the Norfolk Botanical gardens website.

Many thanks to WVEC for providing the cam!

The eaglet is between the Eagle's legs. Tiny grey ball of feathers. At least it looks like it to me.
