VIRGINIA BEACH

Police are investigating a case of animal cruelty after a pit bull puppy was left abandoned to die in a large trash container this past weekend.

An Animal Control officer was called to the Food Lion grocery store at 3208 Holland Road on Sunday after a passerby heard a dog yelping. The officer found a 5-week-old black and white puppy in a trash bin.

The dog was rescued and taken to an emergency veterinarian, but it did not survive.

The trash container had been emptied around 8 that morning. The puppy was found around 2:30 p.m.

Police ask that anyone with information about the dog call the Virginia Beach Crime Solvers Office at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Ugh

And what a surprise that we will probably learn if the person or persons caught is a friend of Michael Vicks.....I have always said..pitbulls in certain peoples posession equals a new and disgraceful form of slavery.

HOW CAN YOU?

Whoever did this is not a human being and should be treated as such.

How sad.

I hope they catch

I hope they catch whomever did it and throw the book at him/her! How sad that this poor little puppy was discarded like trash. There are some truly evil and demented people among us.

If he or she is not caught

If he or she is not caught for this, next time it will likely be a baby. Some people just ought not be allowed to breathe.

Oh I agree...people like

Oh I agree...people like this don't deserve to live!

A little extreme

Although I agree this was a horrible crime, I think it's equally horrible suggesting this behavior would lead to abandoning a human baby.

Just like I expected

The extreme wackos respond wanting my head for expressing my opinion.

LOL!

If I had a choice of saving a dog or a person, I would save the person, even if they were like you people.

little extreme......not

im sorry but most people love and care for there animals as if they were their very own kids.. im sorry if you can THRow away a LIVE animal in a public place and WALK away.... then there is no telling what you could do...abandoning a baby obviously wouldnt bother such said person.. either way the responsible person here needs to get hammered.. and i dont mean drunk...

a little extreme

hey island boy, an animal is a living, breathing, pain feeling being, and anyone that would have so little compassion as to let this being suffer has absolutely no respect for life of any kind. Why would you think that an animal is of lesser value than you? What would God think of you and your ignorant opinion?

Really?

there is a strong connection between animal abuse and people who are or become violent towards humans. Look it up.
