Western Branch softball

Coaching career Sarah Wright started as the Western Branch JV softball coach in 2001 and took the varsity job in 2004.

Playing days Wright was an all-state and All-Tidewater second baseman for Western Branch and played basketball and volleyball. She was an outfielder at Virginia Tech, earning a degree in family and child development. She has a master's degree in special education from Old Dominion.

Day job Western Branch's special education department.

Coaching philosophy "Dedication and commitment are keys with everyone working toward a common goal. The varsity and junior varsity programs should be on the same page with structure, discipline and respect. Kids need to learn how to deal with conflict."

Why she coaches "I still love the game and coaching allows me to remain a part of it."
