A motorcyclist was sent to the hospital by helicopter after a crash with a vehicle that had also been driving south on Godwin Boulevard.

About 6:30 p.m. a motorcycle and passenger vehicle were each headed south in the 4300 block of Godwin Blvd. when the passenger vehicle stopped for another vehicle in front that was going to make a left turn, said Debbie George, a Suffolk police spokeswoman. The motorcyclist did not stop and struck the passenger vehicle.

The motorcycle operator, a 59-year-old Suffolk resident, was unresponsive and taken by helicopter to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Traffic in both directions of Godwin Boulevard was shut down for about 40 minutes.
