Greenberg tells Hokies he'll be back next season ...

There's been a good bit of rumor and worry about coach Seth Greenberg's future (or lack of one) in Blacksburg. With Big East jobs open at St. John's and Seton Hall -- both of which would put Greenberg closer to where he grew up -- the rumors and the worry are logical.

But Greenberg's steady response to questions about other jobs has been, "I'm the coach at Virginia Tech." Cryptic? Mabye. Or just factual. For now and, according to star point guard Malcolm Delaney, for next season, too.

Delaney said today that his coach -- who is set to receive a raise at Tech -- has assured everyone involved that he'll be back on the sidelines next season.

Here's exactly what he had to say ...

HOKIES GUARD MALCOLM DELANEY

ON WHETHER HE HAS ASKED GREENBERG ABOUT THESE RUMORS: "I'm not worried about it."

ON THINKING HE'LL BE BACK NEXT YEAR: "Yeah. Because he told us that. If a coach tells a player he's going to be there and tells your parents that he's going to be there and he doesn't, I'd have some different things to say. But I'm pretty sure he'll be back. He told my father two days ago. He's been telling people basically the whole week."

ON THE REALITY THAT SOMEONE, THOUGH, COULD OFFER HIM A LUCRATIVE CONTRACT TO LEAVE: "It's a business. You have to be a realist in some situations. If somebody offered you a lot of money and you needed it, some people would take it. But if you give your word to your players and their parents and you're loyal to your program, then that gives us nothing to worry about. We're not even thinking about that type of stuff right now."

ON GREENBERG HAVING A TALENTED TEAM COMING BACK THAT COULD BE SPECIAL NEXT SEASON: "Whatever happens, happens. I'm not really worried about it. I just worry about going out and playing. No matter what the situation is, we've got a good team. We've been together so long, we know our chemistry. No matter who it is -- and like I said, I'm pretty sure it's going to be Coach (Greenberg) -- we're going to have a great team."

LOL

Also, I love how whenever there is an article about VA Tech basketball or football, other school alumni, fans, etc, make it a point to put negative comments about VA Tech. Why is that? You don't see VA Tech alum putting negative comments on ODU articles now do you? People, get a life and stop hating on VA Tech for whatever reason.

Great

Great, now maybe Greenberg can schedule ODU to improve his out of conference strength of schedule, but ODU could probably find a better team to play that might boost its strength of schedule instead of an ACC bottom dweller who expects its unbalanced conference schedule to be enough to make the tourney.

LOL

LOL, I have nothing against ODU, they are a good program, but winning the CAA and every 8 years actually winning an NCAA game doesn't give you much clout against VT. The only way ODU gets into the tourney all the time is because you win your conference title game in a non-major conference. Had you lost to william and mary, you would not have been in the big dance. You probably would have played VT in the NIT and got crushed. VT doesn't have much to gain by scheduling ODU. If VT did, VT would crush ODU in blacksburg and would probably win a close one in Norfolk too. I get tired of this hate against VT. An ACC bottom dweller??? hahaha, Tech finished tied for third in the ACC, what are you talking about? Make fun of our OOC schedule all you want, VT alums hated it and made fun of it as well and it is something VT definitly needs to improve on in the coming years. But, scheduling ODU and whipping them is not going to do much to help our cause. Keep spreading the VT hate and maybe, someday hokies will care about ODU. LOL. People keep forgetting that VT isn't even a basketball school! Believe me, we are more pumped up about the football spring game coming up than making teh

LOL

big dance! LOL
