Police are looking for a man who robbed two women in the commissary parking lot on the Little Creek campus of the Joint Expeditionary Base on Friday.
The commissary employees were walking to their vehicles when a man approached them, produced a handgun and demanded money, said police and base spokesman Scott Mohr.
After taking money, the robber fled toward the Shelton Circle apartments, said Officer Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman, in an e-mail.
Police are investigating how the robber, who had no apparent military connection, got on base, Mohr said. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service and base security are assisting Virginia Beach police with their investigation, he said.
Police are looking for the robber, described as a black male with black hair and brown eyes between the ages of 18 and 22. He's about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs between 160 and 170 pounds, according to police.
Police ask that anyone with information call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (562-5887).
