Norfolk Fire-Rescue’s hazardous materials team responded to a minor fuel spill this afternoon in Willoughby.
The spill occurred at about noon when a car struck an oil delivery truck, rupturing the fuel tank, said Battalion Chief Harry Worley, a Norfolk Fire-Rescue spokesman. The fuel storage tank was not damaged, he said.
The leak spilled 5-10 gallons of fuel onto the pavement, which the hazardous materials team contained using sand and oil pads, Worley said. A contractor then cleaned it up, he said.
Units were on scene for several hours, but had cleared by 4 p.m., officials said.
