Twitty, Hill make college choices

Two first-team All-Tidewater football players have made their college decisions.

Lake Taylor tackle Fred Hill is headed to NAIA school UVA-Wise, while Grassfield linebacker Isaiah Twitty has chosen Northwestern College, a Christian school in Orange City, Iowa.

Hill, 6 feet 1 and 240 pounds, was second-team all-state, first-team All-Eastern Region and first-team All-Eastern District. Last season, the two-way starter helped lead Lake Taylor’s vaunted rushing attack and led South Hampton Roads’ top-ranked defensive unit. He recorded 78 tackles, including 27 for loss.

Twitty, 5-10 and 200 pounds, was second-team All-Eastern Region and All-Southeastern District. In his three-year career, he compiled 198 tackles, 22 sacks, 14 forced fumbles and five interceptions. On offense, he rushed for 15 touchdowns and averaged five yards per carry.

“We are very excited to add Isaiah to our linebacker group next fall,” Northwestern coach Kyle Achterhoff said in a release. “He is an outstanding linebacker who is always around the football, making tackles and creating turnovers. Isaiah is a physical player and we look forward to having him be part of the Red Raider football family.”

Maegher. White’s 55.44 finish in the 100 butterfly broke Darby Chang’s record of 55.92. She also swam a leg on the record-setting 200 freestyle relay team.
