Michael Franti & Spearhead with pecial guest The Wailers

Friday, May 28, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Michael Franti & Spearhead is Franti’s newest band. His entire musical career has slowly but surely built an extremely dedicated global grass roots following, earning his fans one concert at a time. As a teenager, Franti’s life was profoundly changed by the music and the message of Bob Marley and the Wailers. Through Franti’s appreciation of Bob Marley, he found bands with a reggae influence like the Police and, especially, The Clash, artists who made socially engaging music alongside more personal songs and still made you dance.

The Wailers along with Bob Marley sold more than 250 million records worldwide. The lineup revolves around Aston “Family Man” Barrett who is widely regarded as one of the world’s greatest bass players and performed on all of those unforgettable performances by Bob Marley & The Wailers from the seventies. One of the last, great reggae institutions, The Wailers refuse to live off past glories. That’s because Family Man represents tried and trusted roots authenticity and, along with the Wailers, injects fresh excitement into a show that continues to attract enthusiastic audiences from around the world.

Crow is a nine-time Grammy Award winner.  Her music blends rock, country and pop into one mainstream sound.

Colbie Caillat has become one of today’s most essential new artists. In little more than a year after the release of her nearly double-platinum debut album “CoCo,” Caillat has so quickly made such an enduring impact that USA Today declared the California girl a vital part of “a new wave of troubadours luring fans of all ages into a peaceful, easy feeling.”  She is the first true MySpace discovery.  With no marketing push and only the power of the music behind her, Caillat became a sensation on the social networking site starting in 2006 when, upon the advice of friends, she began uploading her songs to her page.
