Dark since it was switched off in November, the beacon atop the Ocracoke Lighthouse will be relit at dusk Wednesday, the National Park Service announced today.
The light was disconnected while restoration work was done on the 1823 tower, located in the heart of Ocracoke Village. Metalwork has been repaired, new glass was installed in the lens room and the lightning protection was installed.
The 1860 Fresnel lens was protected inside an enclosure while the work was being done, according to a Park Service statement.

One of my favorite places in the world

The charm of this island paradise is unmatched...except by maybe Boca Grande in Florida.
My spouse and I have spent time on Ocracoke and are huge fans of the strip of sand and village.
Great to see the park service keeping historical landmarks up to date for the tourists. The lighthouses along our shores are treasures to future generations.
I LOVE OCRACOKE ISLAND!
