Two cars were destroyed and one was damaged this morning during a fire in a parking garage near Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Firefighters were called to the third floor of the garage near Fairfax Avenue and adjacent to Eastern Virginia Medical School's Hofheimer Hall about 7 a.m., said Battalion Chief Harry Worley, Norfolk Fire-Rescue spokesman. When they arrived, the cars were engulfed in flames.
The blaze sent smoke swirling out of both sides of the garage and billowing across Brambleton Avenue, but it was under control by 7:15 a.m., Worley said. No one was reported hurt.
