PORTSMOUTH

A crash involving a school bus sent 14 students to a hospital with minor injuries or for evaluation.

The crash occurred about 4:20 p.m., said Detective John Doyle, a Portsmouth police spokesman. A preliminary investigation indicates that the school bus, traveling east on Portsmouth Boulevard near the intersection with Peach Street, rear-ended a car.

No injuries were reported in the vehicle, but the 14 students on the school bus were taken to Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries or to be evaluated. There were no serious injuries reported.

Portsmouth fire Capt. Paul Hoyle said the students were on their way home from Victory Elementary School at the time of the crash.
