NORFOLK
The Norfolk Admirals ran out of gas early in Saturday's game at Scope.
The rigors of a long road trip, little rest before an important weekend homestand and players missing action due to injuries added up to a 4-2 loss to Albany before the second largest home crowd of the season (6,108).
Jerome Samson scored two goals and Drayson Bowman and Stefan Chaput added a goal each, all coming in a span of 7:58 covering the first and second periods.
Dana Tyrell stuffed a puck past Justin Pogge to give the Admirals a short-lived 1-0 lead in the first period.
Blair Jones, right in front of Pogge, tipped a shot by Matt Lashoff into the net with 5:59 to play to finish the scoring for Norfolk. It was Jones' third goal in his last five games.
The Admirals have a week off to sort out their depleted roster, add a body or two and heal a few bruises before playing Bridgeport next Friday and Saturday at Scope, where they play 10 of their last 14 games.

GIVEAWAY NIGHT AT SCOPE
Since the Pilot can’t seem to provide a decent accounting of last night’s Admirals game I thought I’d do the honors.
It was giveaway night at Scope last night and I’m not talking about hats or thunder sticks or playing cards; no, they gave away the game through poor play in their defensive zone and poor passing on breakouts. They gave the puck away repeatedly in their end to Albany, and when they weren’t doing that they were giving the puck away to Albany by passing it directly to them (see Jackson, Scott). They gave away free shots on net by not covering their man and not standing Albany players up at the blue line. They gave away the puck on dump-ins, even on the power play (?) by not pursuing. And finally, Tokarski gave away big, fat rebounds that directly led to 3 goals.
My 3 schmucks of the game: #3 - Jackson, #2 - Tarkir and my absolute #1 - Ty Wishart – Mr. Minus in the team’s +/- stats added at least another minus 2 to his collection as he continues to show zero defensive ability.
Will the last Admiral heads off to call up in Tampa please turn out the lights?
Giveaway Night
I think the most giveaways were given in the form of non-penalties that were not called against the boys. I counted at least 4 holdings, 2 trippings, 2 interferances, and 1 boarding that were not called.
