Suffolk police are asking for help identifying a man who entered the Southern Food Store in the 2100 block of N. Main St. at about 10:30 p.m. Feb. 25 and robbed the clerk.

The man, dressed in black with his face covered by a purple bandanna, reached into the cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. The man fled the business on foot. He was chased by a witness who lost sight of him.

Police have still photos of the robber.

Anyone with information about him is asked to call the Crime Line at (888) LOCK-U-UP. When calling Crime Line, you never have to give your name or appear in court. If information leads to an arrest, the caller could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.

Detective Carlos Gonzales is the lead investigator in the case.
