Boys tennis

Norfolk Collegiate 9, Maury 0

Seniors Aaron Shroyer and Willie Dashiell spurred the Oaks (2-1) to a nonconference road success on Tuesday against the Commodores of the Eastern District.

Shroyer (3-0) was a 6-1, 6-3 victor at No. 1 singles, while Dashiell (2-1) rolled 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. The duo also combined for an 8-2 success at No. 1 doubles.

“I was very pleased with our overall success, especially considering the windy conditions,” veteran Norfolk Collegiate coach Rufus Outland said.

“Shroyer and Dashiell, who made first team all-conference doubles last year, set the tone.”

He also assisted on Pat Moye’s opening goal.

 

Ryan Lipps fired in a free kick a minute later to pull the Hawks to within a goal.

 

Branden Elliott had eight saves for the Eagles, who allowed their first goal of the season.
